Tumbling ...

Hello hello!
Back from my little break, rejuvenated and bursting at the seams to post this shot of the Jo Malone store on Sloane Street, London.
Window dressing at it's very best.
Flowers tumbling from a window? I wish I'd thought of it myself!

Happy weekend, dear friends x

Pause ...

You might have noticed, I'm having a little blog holiday...

As I get excited about turning both 5 (blog) and 1 (business), I thought it was a good time to step back and take stock of what has been some seriously busy years here at W&W.

Mum and I are planning some super exciting pop-ups in the next few months and remain enthusiastic about gently adding to our collection of treasures for the shop, we just can't help ourselves!
Interior decorating and styling services are still all systems go, so drop me a line if you'd like to chat about your decorating projects.

I'll be back before you know it x

This image has nothing to do with time off but I just loved it... The Steward, of course.

Crumpled ...

This is a great crumpled, jumbly mess of a bed ...

While the nurse in me desperately wants to neaten it up just a touch, I can still appreciate the beautiful styling.
I simply adore mixed up linens, some vintage mixed with some brand new ... and I dream of stumbling across a delicately faded quilt such as this one day, the more ragged the better.

30.4.12

Ile de Re ...

Isn't this just one of the most idyllic images you've ever clapped your eyes on?
You all know I love a tug boat...

I've dreamed of visiting Ile de Re (an island off the west coast of France) since seeing the interior of La Maison Douce featured in a magazine many, many years ago. I've made up my mind that the rest of the island must be just as enchanting and well worth an expedition when next in the region ...
 I'll get there soon enough...

Anyone else spend unnecessary amounts of time planning dream itineraries like me??
(Please don't let me be alone in this!)

27.4.12

Pup ...

Making up for a lack of Friday pup photos by posting two... I couldn't choose so up they both go even though I'm sure the Father and Son pugs have been here before ...

Happy weekend, dear friends xx

Suited ...

A little bit of a departure from interiors today as we examine the all too rare sighting of a man in a beautifully tailored suit.
Especially good on a man as dapper as Roger Stirling.
Silver fox.
Loving season 5 Mad Men - you?

23.4.12

Explorers ...

I took this photo yesterday while on an inpromptu day trip to Port Adelaide with the gorgeous Kate - it was such fun, we felt like explorers!

One day I'll have a tug boat of my own... I just know it!

20.4.12

Hello ...

Oops, I disappeared!
And to add insult to serious injury, I was unable to find a gorgeous enough puppy to express my infinite happiness that today is Friday...
I'll leave you with this beautifully balanced composition from Living Etc instead.

Happy weekend, dear friends xx

10.4.12

Adventure ...

Today I'm straight back to work on a few fun decorating jobs but in the back of my mind I'm dreaming of a bit of adventuring ...
Telling myself to be patient is always a complex task!

4.4.12

Bunny ...

Having a little break in Sydney over Easter so posting will start again next week.
I promise to Instagram my little heart out as I trawl for treasures ...

Wishing you a safe and happy Easter break, dear friends xx

Lunch ...

Just in case you missed the photos of Kim's Birthday Lunch on Instagram, (my new obsession and reason why I appear to neglect W&W 'headquarters') here they are again...
How divine is her Caviar wallpaper!
Of course I took any excuse to debut the giant clam shell, and generally theme nautically - my favourite way to decorate!

Also joining us were fellow blogging beauties Kate, Sally, Pip and Alex
Quite the bloggers lunch!

For future reference, fellow lovers of the exoskeleton, giant clam shells are in no way water-tight! We learned this the hard way but thankfully took photos pre flooding of the table...

Off to find some sealant!

30.3.12

Trucker ...

Bit of a whacko shot to finish the week.
I'd love to have a dog that could come with me to see clients and on deliveries... not that I deliver bottled water but you get my drift!

Happy weekend, dear friends x

PS - Kimbo's birthday was yesterday... hurrah!
Celebrating with lunch at the SFC on Sunday so the new giant clam shells will be making an appearance...keep your eyes on Instagram (whiteandwander) for photos xx

Blackboard ...

Here is shot from a wedding I did for a gorgeous couple a few weeks ago.
I have a new love... signwriting.
All that rubbing out and perfecting the lettering is so therapeutic!

Roy V Photography - the man is a genious!

Tea ...

This picture from the latest Martha Stewart Living has my heart beating rather quickly...
Adoring the twiggy, mossy props but most of all desperately want to get my mits on that giant yellow tub of tea!
Friends will be laughing as they all know I don't really drink tea but I can't resist that stunning yellow and silver loveliness - would be a beautiful addition to my collection of props that are gorgeous but completely useless...

I tracked it down(i.e. read the article) - Bellocq Tea Atelier

Wet Puppy ...

This looks like a great day to me ... Sun, water and a big wet puppy.

Happy weekend, dear friends xx

Cheetah ...

Of course I love it - there's a cheetah skin casually strewn across the ottoman!

Yacht #2

Of course, if yacht #1 gets sold then I could probably settle for this.
It's a touch more expensive at 38,000,000 but she sure is pretty...

Still dreaming... clearly!

20.3.12

Yacht #1 ...

Oh, woe is me, I've stumbled upon a site that I wish I hadn't ...
Please be warned, if you're a daydreaming wanderlusty sailor like me I strongly advise you NOT to look at it... you too will be tortured for many long hours

I've been obsessing over renovating a boat interior for some months now after spying a derelict tug that had my name written all over it. Since the owners have decided not to part with it, this will have to do as a substitute...

Built in 1939, this darling old girl served during WWII as an espionage boat for the English Navy in the Mediterranean and is currently berthed in France - With an interior in need of the W&W touch, the necessity to sail her home from France and a scandalous history like that I think we are going to get along just famously!

A girl can dream ...sigh

19.3.12

Elope ...

Our family was thrilled, surprised and of course a bit flabbergasted last week with the happy news that my twin sister Luce and her lovely fiance Ellis were eloping to New York City after becoming engaged just a few weeks earlier ...
This is just a teensy selection of the photos taken by Katie Jane who not only captured the happy day but also acted as their witness - how funny is that? Luce said she was amazing so if you're ever eloping in NY, she's your gal...

We knew Luce may not have thought of a bouquet after organising all the other logistics so we tracked down a florist via their concierge and asked them to put together this gorgeous bouquet and send it over the morning of the ceremony - I wanted it to look like Georgie's wedding flowers and happily it seems that it did!

What wonderful news ... we are so happy for them and I can't wait to see them next time they are home (or I'm there!)

PS ... Luce is a brilliant dressmaker and whipped this skirt up herself just a few days before they left for NY,  and topped it off with this Kate Spade number. How clever she is!

Weekend

Funny swimming pups - just like Mr H. He is a serious water dog...

Happy weekend, dear friends xx

Classic and Zany ...

Getting back into the swing of decorating interiors again...
I've been thinking about mixing old school classics like silver framed ships and butler's pantry's with zany touches like this trumpet sconce... I think it works. Gotta have a touch of whacky in every interior.

Gorgeous x

Wed ...

Thoroughly successful wedding on the weekend, friends ... the design went beautifully to plan.
The event was full of love, life, food, wine and dancing... not even the bug invasion post rain could dampen the beautiful couples spirits...

My 'Mr & Mrs' canvas was also a hit - and lots of fun to make. As usual I've been too impetuous to take photos during its production ... classic Emma.

More photos to come ... this one is from Kim's Instagram - check it out!

27.2.12

Happy Week ...

Don't you just love this invitation?
Who wouldn't want to attend when it is described so whimsically as a Pleasure Ball, and a host who is a Captain!?

Speaking of events, huge week here at W&W as we do the final prepping for a big wedding this weekend. I've been working with the gorgeous couple for a year now and we are all chomping at the bit to see it brought to life - I believe with all certainty that it is going to rock - they are a very stylish pair.
I'll have some shots after the event.

In other happy wedding news, my twin sister Lucy has become engaged to the lovely Ellis.
Those of you who've read the blog for a while now will know that for the past 2 years there has been a wedding in our family, and this year will be no different.
Hurrah for you both, and fur-baby Sooty... and hurrah for me who may 'need' to go overseas for it! It's a hard life...

This week I'll be on the move lots so watch my Twitter feed for Instagram photos and wedding updates x

21.2.12

Game ...

Early morning meeting tomorrow to discuss a very exciting food event for Adelaideans...
I'll be doing the venue styling and happily it is going to require lots of lovely antlers.

Keep and eye on my Twitter account, and of course here at the blog for updates. I can't wait to tell you all more about it asap.

Hurrah for Autumn decorating... officially only 10 days away.

Property ...

Here are a few sneaky shots of what has been keeping me so busy last week - White & Wander's first foray into property styling.
It's a gorgeous town house with a pretty English feel and lots of natural light - oh, how I wish I could snap it up myself!
The era and architecture of the property dictated the tone of the furniture and the colour scheme of black, white, grey and silver. It all came together pretty well, if I do say so myself!
I never thought I'd use the rosettes that I made in a bored moment in the NT but the dining table just wasn't complete without them! It just wouldn't be W&W without a dash of something quirky...

Photos by me xx
(Let me know if you'd like the link to the property)

Loft Revamp ...

Hello again, dear friends!

My busy first week back in the loft has been just lovely. I walked back in there and felt instantly at ease. That said, I've been dying to shake up my decorating for a while and I've been thinking about it lots while I've been away.

I've decided to create a bit more definition with splashes of bright pale blue and snow leopard (still tonal but a bit fun), I'm going to reupholster my bedhead in something a little bolder but keep my beloved nail head trim, and speaking of trimmings, I'm going to increase the detail on lamp shades and cushions with some rope and fringing... It's a start anyway!

Photos to come as the work progresses...

Photo from Love With The Proper Stranger Tumblr ... j'adore the stripe, old gilded frames and that tassel fringing...

9.2.12

Busy ...

Another week has slipped past without even blinking!

I'm back in SA after a few days at the Design and Decoration trade fair in Sydney, which was fabulous and well worth the trip.
This week has been filled with client meetings, some old and some new, finalising some big jobs that are coming up, decorating, treasure foraging, and catching up with friends and family.
Happy days.
I'll make a BIG effort to get posting back on track next week, dear friends, promise xx

(Couldn't think of a cuter image to leave you with!)

Dream Home ...

I talk about dream homes all the time... I've got about 10 of them.
But I've found the one ... the search is over.

It's the home of retired Naval Officer Admiral Boom and his wife, and their ex-pirate assistant Binnacle, on Cherry Tree Lane, London.

I am amazed I didn't remember this from my childhood because I would have seen Mary Poppins countless times! G Barb can attest to us wearing out her tape!

 It's perfect in every way.
Such a pretty blue ...
And what an amazingly fantastic roof top with all those ship-shape details!

Happily, my loft is pretty nautical already, but it is more like a lighthouse than a ship ...
But I could add a Captain's wheel to the front deck of course, always room for more props!

See the full Admiral Boom montage here
(Please excuse the blurry screen shots taken from the movie!)

Dinner ...

Now, this is my kind of Sunday dinner.
Perfectly simple and rustic.
Lovely.

Transit ...

I'm happily heading home today after 6 weeks away.

None of my photos are really blogworthy so I'll leave you with this beautiful shot of dinner under the stars at Faraway Downs, from the fabulous movie, Australia. Opinions will be divided here, but I really loved it. I've been in more bush than desert but there are definitely some similarities (sadly no Hugh Jackman)

I'll be traversing the country for a few days so I've scheduled a few posts to keep the home fires burning - including a post of my dream home!

See you next week, dear friends xx

27.1.12

Nearly Home...

My goodness! Where has this week gone?
I've only got a few days left in the NT and I can't deny, I'm very much looking forward to heading back to the loft and busy city life.

I've got a busy February and March with W&W projects, but work is just going to have to wait as there are a few the things I must do immediately, if not sooner, upon arrival ...
Firstly, catch up on a massive stack of magazine reading ...
Someone better check on me from time to time, I may have passed out with excitement!
Oh, how I lust after a crisp fresh copy of World of Interiors ...

 Next, eat some serious meat.
I rarely eat big cuts of meat but a few weeks without it really has me hankering ... I might try this place? Kits, Kimbo, Kate - care to try it with me?

Also in the eating category, is a pilgrimage, preferrably at midnight, to the spiritual home of pies, Vilis - SA readers, you know what I mean. Yep.
Paint my nails a wildly inappropriate shade of some description ... better yet, have someone paint them for me...

Embark on a much needed day out treasure hunting in the Kangoo ...
Top of the list is a tortoise shell... of course!

And lastly, give my great love, Mr H, a suffocating snuggle for at least 15 minutes...
He has defied the odds with his miraculous recovery. Thanks so much again for all your kind words of support.

Happy weekend, dear friends.
